3am random rhymes

I was giving Sophie Koh a spin on the cd player, and felt inspired to chuck together a few nonsensical rhymes..

Objects in the mirror
are closer than they seem
I frolic with the pillars of
my stationery dreams*

Is it impossible to ask,
for a "one half empty glass"
and the envelope of photos
of your graduating class?

A reflection in the mirror
shows up on the screen
revealing to an audience
of consumer and machine
that through our ordinary tasks
be it the first one or the last
that something simple such as photographs
could be all that's left about our past.

i jettison my pride
with the departure of the tide
i forge the smile of a tired clown
and take it in my stride.
disconnected from a world
where it's assumed you know your way
daily grind from 9-5
and still the rent needs to be paid.

suppose the only thing to push for
is to try and be your best
although it's difficult whilst you're sitting
on a worn out picket fence

the object in the mirror
has longed for change before
although the object cannot see
it was a casualty of war.

war of politics, and party tricks
hardships of life, both thin and thick
the next meal, and bed
and where I'll lay my head
not like the world would stop turning
if i end up dead

object in the mirror
what was the good within goodbye?
the least we could ever want to do
would be to know at least we tried.

poem, nonsenscial blabber
