a postcard

I have had the kind of week that recharges the batteries, restores the soul, and re-awakens my desire to post on livejournal. Tallwithglasses and I took a train trip to San Antonio this week. Along the way, I caught up on reading, listened to lots of music, and saw the world from a new perspective. Then, when we arrived at our destination, we spent our evenings along the river eating great Tex-Mex and planning what to do next.

Upon our return home, we turned around and went to Tulsa to see "The Dark Knight." It was the largest group that I've seen a movie with in awhile, and it was awesome to have that communal experience again. What was my take on the movie itself? It was very similar to my take on "Batman Begins." It made me want to go out and read Batman comics. Most of the movies based on Marvel characters that have come out in the last few years have been good, even great, films. But it's only after these Batman movies that I really feel like taking a day off work and visiting the local comic store. I may start with a graphic novel entitled "The Long Halloween" which _the_antihero loaned me three years ago. (Don't worry, I haven't forgotten.)

After the movie, most of us went to Kilkenny's, where I made a new friend.

Hooray for weeks like this one!
