This is where I work.

My job is as an eChannel Support Specialist for an IT distribution company.

What this means is I process orders that come in through the websites of our customers. I also work through two channels for our sister companies, pushing through orders.

My day is stupid and boring. I honestly don't know why they have me working here. I don't complain because it's a paycheck, but it's a waste of money for the company. A company I am deciding is not worth it in the entire scope of today's world.

My typical day:

11:20 : get on the #22 Bus
11:45 : punch into work
1:30 : go to nine different customer websites and pull and process their orders
2:15 : go on 15 minute break
4:30 : go to half hour lunch
6:00 : go to those same 9 websites to pull and process more orders
7:00 : another 15 minute break
8:00 : leave work

So pretty much that means at 1:30 and 6:00 I pull orders (my entire job)
Usually there are maybe ten orders to process during each pull... Each of these takes an average of five minutes to process. That's right, when you do the math, I work maybe 60 minutes for each pull and with two pulls, that is two hours of work per day.

What do I do in the meantime you may ask...Well, youtube, facebook, livejournal, wikipedia, microsoft games, email, craigslist. Good thing I have the internet to keep me occupied. There are many sites that are restricted, such as gmail(any email besides work one), any porn(obviously), anything that has the word email/chat/sex on it. Bring a Book!

What does pulling and processing orders consist of? Well, pure excitement!
1) Go to customer website. www.americangreetings.com/"specialcompanysite" and open a PO if there is one.
2) Align customer bill point and ship to address via the information they give.
3) Make sure this PO hasn't been entered.
4) Put part numbers and quantities into our system.
5) Put some more info in, such as their PO number and how it is to be shipped.
6) Send it off.

My day consists of a lot of pushing the F6 button to push things through.

Now, mind you, there are three of us doing this exact job. One person could handle the entire thing with no problem but we don't. It takes three.

I'm getting paid, again, not complaining. But this is just an example of pure waste created by The Man.
