I just had to post about last nights Studio 60, I feel sorry for people who don't watch this show anymore, or who passed it over to begin with.
Yes some of the earlier ep's weren't great (nevada day was disappointing), but over the last 17 episodes I've grown to love all the characters, some more than others to be honest, last night's (ep18) was so touching because of my attachment to the characters I found myself laughing and crying at times.
I loved (and fangirl squeed) at Jordon's "we're having a girl" and her smile when she said it, I thought it was great that Sorkin paralleled real life by having low ratings for S60, and I found the tension this caused between Danny and Jordon was well utilised, they haven't as yet set boundaries on their work/personal relationship.
Matt's drug use took centre stage when it first started, and it was great to have it brought up again after being MIA in the last few episodes, if anything the lack of his drug on screen makes it appear that he's been using his bottle of Flinstone vitamins to keep everyone at the studio in the dark, up until Suzanne confronted him last night. I love Matt and Suzanne scenes, their established raport really helped them bring up his drug use last night, without it seeming too far fetched or too schmoltzy.
I loved the shot of Lucy alone after Tom is taken away from the studio, and the fact that it was Danny who saw her, they were both still at the studio when people they loved were in pain. Which brings me nicely to Bradley Whitford and him hitting it out of the park last night with the look he gave Matt when he asked if he was okay, you could see all his internalised emotions just lying beneath the surface when he replied.
To be honest it was only a matter of time before Tom's brother was put in a desperate situation, yet it felt fresh and the character reactions were brilliantly done. I'm looking forward to next week, and the resolution to both Tom and Jordan's personal issues.
