I spent the afternoon at home with Isabel who had started running a fever the night before. She was doing much better in the afternoon so we ran a few errands - voted, car wash, and she was up to playing outside so we took out her scooter.
While we were out in the yard, I noticed a dark, heavy looking bulb hanging from of the plants. I look above it and there's 3 bunches of green bananas. At least I think that's what they are since I didn't even know it was possible for them to grow here. My thumb is so not green! I picked up two grocery bags full of guavas that were on the ground. The figs are all gone (DD really enjoyed the ones we let her have, which weren't much). And the lemon tree is always full. Growing up in Chicago where not much of anything grew, I find it fascinating that all of this is right in my backyard. I just wish I had the motivation to try my hand at gardening. But when I feel like I'm constantly clearing mini-disaster zones around the inside of my house and rarely have the whole house in order, I just can't imagine spending the time to make the outside look nicer.
