Busy, Busy, Busy~
This is my first free morning in such a long time! It feels so nice to just be able to do nothing for a few hours! Really I should be sleeping; Lord knows I haven't had enough of that the last few days but... here I am on the computer anyways. ^^; This is the most hectic semester EVER.. and school isn't even the reason. My workload is entirely managable and honestly pretty easy for me (lots of note-taking, but I got used to that last semester so it doesn't bother me anymore).
The problem is all the extra-curricular things I've taken up this semester. I'm in the play - which isn't anything new; I try to be in one play a semester - which is 6 one-acts by Christopher Durang, 2 of which I'm cast in (two totally opposing roles: first, a crazy-delusional woman who wears a teacup on her head and Lolita-esque dresses and hides cookies all over her house and loves everything pretty and the second a slut in lingere whose lines consist of trying to make someone go to bed with her xD; ) So now that its the week before Opening, I have rehearsal every night.
On top of that, I'm directing a Musical Showcase with one of my best friends. We only have two weeks to teach an ensemble of 17 (including ourselves) how to sing and the dances to 5 distinctly different songs. We can only rehearse after the rehearsals for the Durang one-acts... so like 10-midnight every night. I'm really excited about the musical, though. The FGCU staff has a thing against musicals, and we also only have a small Black-Box theatre, and so there's the attitude of "a musical just can't be done in a Black Box!" But my friend and I are attempting to prove everyone wrong, and to knock everyone's teeth out with a stellar performance. :) We have great ensemble songs too, but they're all fairly difficult on different levels:
1) "Circle of Life" from the Lion King
2) "Oh The Thinks You Can Think" from Seussical the Musical
3) "Wild, Wld Party" from The Wild Party (maybe. if I can find a backtrack. ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A BACKTRACK TO THIS?)
4) "Totally Fucked" from Spring Awakening
5) "You Can't Stop The Beat" from Hairspray
Rehearsals have been going well so far, though there is one person I reeeeallly don't like that I cast in the show (I cast everyone who auditioned) whose giving me so much trouble already. She sent me a really rude email to complain about the role she got in the play, and how she deserved more because she was soo much more talented than most the other people who auditioned (total lie, btw). But we decided to give her another chance anyways despite this. It was the biggest mistake ever...I'm literally pulling hair out over it, and I'm looking for ways to kick her out of the show. It's not just that Diva attitude that's a problem, it's that she constantly pulls the Sopranos up an octave or so when singing, because she doesn't know the notes we're on. She tries to out-sing the rest of the ensemble by yelling the lyrics, practically and she attempts to move in ways her body mass quite frankly won't allow. >_< It's just horrible!
Sorry for the little rant, I just can't stand her.
On top of the musical, I'm cast in two other student-directed one-acts -- one a short dramatic scene, and the other a pantomime. I have no idea how I'm going to rehearse for those, but.... it'll work out somehow. @_@
And on top of that, I was just cast in the musical "Gypsy" in a local community theatre. The show's been double-casted, so I'm a Hollywood Blond (dunno how that'll work out since my hair is practically black lol) in Cast A and Dainty June (!!) in Cast B. =D I was soooo happy to get Dainty June!! It said in her character description that she needs to be a strong dancer, and I've only just started taking a jazz class this semester because it was offered; other than that I have noo experience. And I couldn't even do a cartwheel, which Dainty June apparently needs to be able to do - and I got her part!! =) "Gypsy" will be opening at the end of April.. rehearsals will probably start in the beginning of march sometime.
Annnd I'm also Team Captain of the Theatre Students team at FGCU's Relay for Life this year! ^__^ I was disappointed the Theatre never had a team at Relay so I took it upon myself to create a team! =) Super excited for this too! Our theme is gonna be "Peter Pan'~! Sooo gonna dress up as Tink. <3
Other than that, I... think I'm good. xD;
Some sleep and food other than McDonalds might do me some good, though.
Unrelated to school.. I MIGHT be going to metrocon this year. Apparently its at the end of July. I don't know if I'll be in Canada or not, because I have a few weddings to go to up there this summer. But if not, I'll have a group to go with, too! ^-^ I didn't want to go if I was going to be all by myself, which I was afraid I might be because of.. certain bitch who showed me what true friendshup is not... but I just learned there are a few guys in my cast who love anime! And they asked me when metrocon was! =D So maybe we'll all go together~ I'd like to finally be able to wear my Ciel dress.
Anyway~ also unrelated but...
