After 15 minutes of staring at the paperwork on his desk, with the intention of trying to make a dent in it, Bobby would welcome any distraction. Then the phone ring. He looked at it for a moment, almost suspicious that the distraction had come so quickly after his thoughts about distractions.
But the squadroom was empty, and he picked up the phone anyway, "Detective Goren, Major Case."
"Det. Goren? This is Clive Witherspoon, I'm a court officer out in Nassau County...we're s'posed to have the Brynn Fairfax trial startin' here today...Judge asked me to call yous guys...she, uh, didn't show up for her trial."
"She was out on bail, Detective...she didn't show up...her lawyer says he don't know what's goin' on...Judge said to call yous guys and tell you to go search her place, see if she's there an' whatnot...."
Narrowing his eyes slightly in thought for a second, Bobby grabbed his binder, "I'll go check and..and call you back.." Though, he had a large suspicion that she wouldn't be at home.
Bobby hung up the phone too and headed out of the squadroom to go to Brynn Fairfax's place. As he went out the door, he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and called Eames, Logan and Barek.
Alex was just about to take the dog out for his walk when her phone rang. She grabbed it as she tried to get the excited puppy to stand still so she could put his leash on. She smiled when she saw who it was and answered casually.
"Hey, dinner's ready to go in the oven. Where are you?"
She nodded, setting the leash down. "Sorry pup." She told the whining terrier. Then turned her attention back to her phone. "Okay, see you there." She hung up and grabbed her car keys.
Buster stared at her, standing on his hind legs and looking as cute as possible.
"I know Buster, your Daddy and I will both walk you when we get back." She promised, even though the dog had no idea what she was saying. With that she went down to her car and headed to Fairfax's place.
Mike picks up the phone, and, as usual these days, Isabel's wails are in the background. "Goren? Whaddya want?" He shifted the baby to the other shoulder to try to hear better, then finally handed her off to Millie.
"Mike, Nassau county just..just called the squadroom, Brynn Fairfax didn't..show up for court. I'm going to check out her place, but.. but resourceful...bitch like her.. likely she's um.. gone," Bobby explained quickly, still walking.
"Ok, so, what? You short-handed? I...wait, this doesn't add up. I saw her yesterday. She was taunting me about how this was getting moved upstate and she was gonna get a walk..." He looked over at Millie. "Do I need to come out there?"
But the squadroom was empty, and he picked up the phone anyway, "Detective Goren, Major Case."
