He found it almost funny how after all those years inside the 16th Precinct, he’d never come to think of it as ‘home’.
Everything there had been different. The unit, the squad room, the faces…the city. New York had always lived up to its’ nickname of the “city that never sleeps”, but to him, it’d never really compared to the city that bled.
Years after leaving Baltimore, and Homicide, he returns, retired now, no shield on his waistband or his coat, and no gun.
But he still can’t help but feel like he’s finally home.
