The annual National Association of Criminal Profilers conference was held at a Baltimore Marriott this year. Bobby was in the elevator headed toward the meeting rooms when it stopped and a woman got on.
“Shoot,” she drawled, fishing around her large purse and jostling her full armload. She smiled, glasses askew, as Bobby offered assistance. “Aren’t you sweet?” She let him help, nearly dropping everything. “Thank yew. I’m runnin late.” She found her schedule after some digging. “Do you know where the Thomas Bond room is?”
“That’s where I’m headed,” Bobby said. “Detective Robert Goren, Major Case, En Why Pee Dee.” He took some of her burden and held out his hand. “Are you attending ‘Drilling for a Rock Solid Confession’?”
“Pleasure.” She shook his hand, dislodging her purse from her shoulder. “Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson, Priority Homicide, El Ay Pee Dee and I’m givin that talk this mornin.”
