[Like everyone else, Kurotsuchi has changed. The white haori doesn't fit very well, and billows around him. A long, sharply-finned fish tail replaces the shinigami's lower body, and it thrashes occasionally to keep him in place in the water ( Read more... )

It seems some of the modifications are more dramatic than others.

[He appears pretty much totally normal, except for the gills. He is indeed curious about the changes, though, including Kurotsuchi's.]

Yes. They were apparently content with just giving some of you breathing tools, but little else.

And the ability to handle the water pressure, as well.

True. But I wonder how far underwater we actually are. It's not completely dark, and none of my things are crushed, so it can't be that deep.

With the spatial anomalies, it's difficult to tell. I couldn't reach a surface when I attempted earlier, but that may mean nothing.

However, items here may have been modified similarly against pressure. They can't be used a control subject.

Couldn't reach... did it feel as though you were getting anywhere?

And that's true. My materials have already been modified to avoid being ruined by the water, even if I can't use all of them- modification to pressure isn't a far leap.

Physically, yes, it felt like I was moving. However the surroundings never changed, past a certain point.

A trick of perception, maybe. Or some sort of loop.

Either is possible. If it's the former rather than the latter, it might be possible to break through. However it is more likely to be a spatial or temporal issue, as we know those occur here.

They don't want people breaking through the surface, I suppose. I wonder if anyone's tried to leave through the sky before....

It's unlikely to work, but I haven't attempted it. One of my siblings might have.

Unlikely, but I wonder what would happen. I wouldn't normally be able to pass through the atmosphere regardless, so I don't know.

It would be worth attempting.
