You can do a life study. Note behaviors, habits, and tendencies of the wildlife without directly interacting with them.

Possibly. I've done something like that to a limited degree, but something more in-depth could be interesting.

Exactly. And that way you could get a glimpse of brain functions and levels of intelligence while the creature is in its natural environment.
