HI AND MERRY CHRISTMAS. This one is for Jo. <3

"Cameron, I read the most fascinating thing," Vala says, perched on his desk.

Vala reads a lot. Turns out there isn't a lot to do when you live on base. Surfing the internet is now a dedicated past time, though they've set restrictions on any site that she could possibly use to purchase them.

Cam thinks she's secretly glad for that. Finding ways to break the restrictions is just another thing to keep her from being bored.

"What did you read?" Cam asks, pretending like she doesn't have his full attention. His eyes stay on his computer screen scrolling through documents but he's not really taking any of them in.

Vala's latest spending splurge was a Christmas wardrobe. She's caught somewhere between sexy elf and naughty Mrs. Claus, with a red halter top and green mini skirt and red pumps and little candy cane barrettes in her hair.

That mini skirt seems to get even more mini every time she walks in the room. Yeah, she definitely has his attention.

"I read all about snowflakes," she says, eyes wide and voice eager. "They're all unique, of course, every single one of them. Not only are they unique but many of them don't even have the same number of sides. One snowflake can have three sides while another has twelve."

"Huh, really?" Snowflake trivia hasn't exactly been on his bucket list, but he has always thought Vala could make the phone book interesting.

"Yes, it's all to do with the barometric pressure." And then she's off on a ten minute lesson, her voice jumping with excitement and her face lit up.

Daniel has it all wrong when he accuses her of always being up to mischief. She is, sometimes, but she's like the kid in class who makes trouble because he's too smart. Vala gets bored, she doesn't have something to occupy her, and all that hectic genius energy of hers just goes awry.

Well, that and the whole morally gray thing. That just makes her want to use her smarts to get what's best for her out of life.

Cam actually doesn't really blame her all that much for that, either.

It's a long week on base.

December 25th is just another day and not only that, but it's the longest day of the entire long week. There's headache throbbing behind his temples and his stomach is growling.

Cam doesn't even give a thought to going home. He takes a shower and changes into civvies and calls his momma, because it's Christmas day and his poor momma wanted him to come home.

He'll make out some time before spring, he promises her.

Yeah, he'll bring Vala, he promises, too.

He hangs up the phone with her, checks his email to make sure nothing else is teetering into crisis state, and then shuts his laptop with a satisfying snap. He grabs a nice discreet standard issue rucksack out of his drawer and drops a few shiny wrapped presents into it.

Time for the festivities to begin.

They're sat on the bed with empty food containers and discarded ripped-apart wrapping paper littering the mattress around them.

Vala is glowing with excitement and joy over her new treasures. It's not all that much - not like Cam has a ton of time to go shopping.

He's proud of this last one, though. A last minute purchase and ridiculously expensive but it's not like he's doing all that much with his paychecks.

Her eyes go wide when she opens the box. Diamonds set in platinum on a delicate silver chain. She puts the snowflake necklace on and doesn't take it off four hours, not until the metal is warm against her skin and the diamonds scratch against Cam's chest.

"How many sides do I have?" Vala whispers in his ear, her fingers curling against the back of her neck and body moving in time with his.

His brain is a little fuzzy, what with all the fantastic sex (Merry fucking Christmas to him) so it takes him a minute to catch on. He laughs breathlessly, shifts his body up to kiss at the corners of her mouth. "Twelve, and each one of them goddamn devastating."

It doesn't really make that much sense but she must like the words she hears because she kisses back with joy. "Tell me," she demands.

He'd give her anything she wanted right now, but he has to know what first. "Huh?"

"Tell me what my sides are." She sneaks right out from under him, catches him off guard and pins him on his back underneath her. She looks like a snow queen, some sort of fantastical siren of winter, with her black hair loose but a few strands that still haven't escaped a clip, her skin pale except for two spots high on her cheek and a flush across her collarbones, and the necklace gleaming between her breasts.

She hovers over him, his cock in her hand. Take no prisoners, that's how she does it. No matter if it's in a bedroom or a battlefield, she's controlling the game.

Here, he lets her. He reaches up and tangles his fingers in her hair and tugs her down to him for a kiss. "Strength." He counts them off one by one, lists them. "Passion. Beauty."

She sinks down onto him, but doesn't move.

He keeps going. "Creativity. Intelligence."

Rocking, slowly.

"Mischief. Loyalty."

Faster, enough to make his eyes roll. "Power. Humor."

She kisses him this time, desperate with something untouchable in her eyes.

"Family. L-oh-love."

"Last one?" Vala teases him, faster and faster, and Cam can't hold back. He knows it, she knows it - she made it so. "Come on, darling..."

Cam chokes out the word as he comes, "Mine."
