Helen/Will UST
Rated PG-13 for brief language
Spoilers for Sanctuary 2x10 "Sleepers"
Helen clears her throat the fifth time she catches Will's attention... wandering.
"What?" He asks, defensive but still amused. "Come on, Magnus. This is paradise. You aren't enjoying it even a little bit?"
"We have work to do. There are serious dangers in-"
"I know, I know." Will holds up his hands in an 'I surrender' gesture. "But I'm just saying, you can't be somewhere this beautiful and not wish you could really enjoy it a little."
"I can." Helen says, expression firm. "There are innocent people whose lives are at stake if we do not figure out a way to combat these creatures."
*
They're set to leave in one hour and 45 minutes, and Will can't find Helen anywhere.
He runs into Tesla, who gives him a smug little smile. "Try the friendship lanai. She always did like a waterfront view."
*
He doesn't see her on the friendship lanai, and he's starting to get annoyed when he catches a glimpse of long dark curls below. There's another level underneath this one, a little spot for relaxing with a pool and a hot tub.
"No way..." He says, under his breath. "That can't be."
*
It can, and it is. He stands there dumbfounded. She's sitting on one the long white deck chairs, talking on a cell phone.
He waits until she hangs up to make his presence known. It's not out of politeness or consideration. He just needs a few minutes to burn the image of Helen Magnus in a white bikini into his mind. It's not that he's never thought of her as an attractive woman, but she just went from school teacher hot to magazine cover hot. He'll definitely be tweaking those fantasies from now on.
She has the grace to look embarrassed, but at this point Will could care less because holy fuck do her legs go on forever.
"Will! I'll be ready to go on time. It's paradise, as you said. I'm just... enjoying it a little bit."
"Hey, no problem." He says, smiling. His eyes are still roaming even as he tries to keep them on her face. She's got a little white wrap around her waist that she smooths down as if it were a skirt. "Don't let me interrupt."
*
He makes a few passes by her closed office door, waiting around until Tesla leaves. It's after two am, and there are three empty wine bottle on the table. He has no idea what they talked about for four hours. He wants to make sure she's all right, perhaps off her a shoulder to stoically not cry but maybe lean on a little, but to his surprise Helen is in a considerably better mood.
"Will!" She greets him enthusiastically. She sways a little when she stands.
"Whoa there, cowboy." He reaches out to steady her. "Aren't you exhausted yet?"
"Actually, I am." She admits. That's when he knows she's drunk. "Care to walk me back to my room?"
"Well, I am the gentlemanly type." He says, taking her arm. She would have been entirely capable of making it back herself, but she asked and besides, he enjoys the random commentary she makes as they walk the halls. She starts rambling stories about where certain things originated from, only to interrupt herself with another story when something else catches her eye. "You know, you really need to write that book one day."
"I will." She nods. "And there will be an entire chapter devoted to my wonderful protege."
Will tries not to laugh, the squashed sound turning into sort of a snort.
"What?" She frowns at him. "You are. You're wonderful! You don't believe you?"
"No, no, Magnus. I believe you."
"Good." She shrugs off the sulk that had been lurking in her voice, offering him another dazzling smile. "You know, Nikola had a wonderful idea. He's turning his rehab center into a resort."
"Oh yeah?"
She nods. "He invited us. Would you like to go? A proper vacation, the kind we talked about? Because you were right. I could use some relaxation. I'm afraid I don't do very much of that. Not since-"
"I think that's a fantastic idea." He says, cutting her off, because happy drunk is fun but he doesn't think he's prepare for Magnus as a morose drunk. "But on one condition."
"What?" She says.
They're nearing her room, and he waits until he's opened the door for her until he replies. "You have to wear that bikini again."
