Your embrace didn’t last long. It was always like that, as soon as the shouts came loud and echoed and went away, so was your hug. You stared up at him with glassy orbs, hands shaking, but you saw trust in his warming, calm eyes and you realized, as he offered his hands to you, maybe, just maybe, the promise of `forever` was a chance for everyone to try.

Somehow you felt your eyes betrayed you deliberately as they always found their ways to lay their sight on him. Then you saw those hands, and no matter how much you told yourself to stop, you just couldn’t quit thinking how they would be on your cold ones, locking them with warmth and security. But then you snapped all of those thoughts, because you couldn’t love. Because when you love, you needed to be ready to lose. And you couldn’t.

You felt your heart thumping, hard, almost audible to your ears and you looked at him, afraid if he could hear the sounds your heart was making, because it was always like that whenever he was near. He smiled to you as if he knew what you were thinking, and the fact that he did made you blush. But that was okay, to him, and to you, because the rising pink shades on your cheeks would never lie. And for once, you wanted to believe that `forever` existed. With him.

Your eyes kept on following every steps he made, toward the girl whom he shared a happy laugh, and another who laid her hand on his shoulder, and another who playfully squeezed his hands, making your chest heaved with uneasy feelings, so intense that you felt your vision blurring with tears. You had told your mind to stop, but it betrayed you meanly and you couldn’t quit wondering, why, why it was not you. You clenched your fingers on the front of your shirt and thinking, if this was how love feels, you never wanted to be in it.
And deep inside, you knew, that you were falling in love all over again.
