I'm having flashbacks to almost 5 months ago because I have another killer ear infection, this time in my right ear. I didn't get any ear drops this time, just some antibiotics and I've been taking a LOT of Motrin. Why the hell do I get diseases no one my age should be getting? Ear infections? I'm not a toddler anymore. I need to find another job because working in a day care center will KILL me.
Anyway, we did the whole rush thing this past weekend. We got there at 5:30 AM on Saturday and we had our tickets in our hands by 6:15 that night. It was worth sitting outside on the concrete for 12+ hours for first row seats. The show was INCREDIBLE (I'll do a review later, maybe tomorrow) and this cast is awesome. It's sad that most of them will be leaving Sunday. Anyway, after the show Jackie and I practically RAN all the way around the theater so the stage door. We got to meet Bryce (Roger), Mimi (Mrs. Jefferson/SOLoist #1), Tracy (Maureen), Michael (Benny) and Warren (Collins). And of course Aswad (Mr. Jefferson/SOLoist #2) came out and immediately I told him who we were and he was really happy and excited to see us, I'm just glad that he remembered. I told him we'd be back the next day with Rachel.
Sunday morning Rachel and I got there a little later, around 6:30. I got more sleeping done that day than I had the day before. The line filled up pretty quickly and eventually Valerie showed up. The wait was not horrible since we were coming for the matinee and we ended up only sitting outside for 5 1/2 hours. The show was a little less electric than the night before (I think it's because the die-hards mostly come at night) and there was a lot less screaming (absolutely NONE after Mimi and Aswad's solos during Seasons of Love which was sad). After the show we ran all the way around the theater once again. This time only Warren, Ano (Angel), Chante (Joanne), Michael and Aswad came out. Aswad was the very last person (of course) to come out. He came by and said hi and that if we wanted to hang out, he would come back and talk to us. So we did.
He came back over and we got pictures, talked about him moving to New York (wink, wink) among other things and he sang Happy Birthday to Rachel (who turned 17 on Saturday, and I have video proof of him singing) with the help of one of the swings, Jennifer Colby Talton who needs to be full-time Mimi like right NOW.
So I'll post pictures (and maybe the video) sometime later. Now I need to take more pain killers and go to bed. :)
