The last chapter of the Draco Trilogy is now up here:
http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/cassandra_claire/DV17.html Which means that the Draco Trilogy is over. I hope you enjoy the last chapter, and I hope that even if you haven't reviewed before, you might drop me a note here or in email just to say what you think, or to say goodbye (or curse me out for the ending, whatever, I'm flexible.) There's an author's note at the end that I hope you'll read, but I wanted to say that I''ve greatly enjoyed writing the Draco Trilogy over these years, and I wanted to thank you all, old readers and new, for sticking with me through infrequent updates and even the abandonment of my fanfiction for work on my original books. I've enjoyed interacting with you all, sharing work with you, and reading your insightful and thoughtful comments. It's been a great six years.
*And on a more practical note, the second half of the chapter, Love Never Ends, is about a third of the way down the page, so if you've already read part one, just scroll down till you see it.
Off to read... and cry. Probably both at the same time. Review when I come back.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So after a small scare with the wireless network not working (thank God Rachel fixed it), I finally got to read the last installment.
Spoilers ahead....
I got all my questions answered:
*Who is Draco going to end up with? (Answer- Ginny. Technically.)
*What did Hermione see in the Mirror of Erised? (Answer- Herself alone.)
*Who is Aurora Twilight? (Answer- Remus. Soooo weird, and kind of expected (I knew it would be someone random like that). Even Rachel looked squicked about it, and she hasn't read DV.
Things I LOVED:
-Ron/Blaise PERFECT.
-THE DRESS. Imagining it was wonderful.
-Rhysenn making her final appearance.
-Draco FINALLY declaring his love for Ginny and for her being his measuring stick for all the girls he's "dated".
-The morning after scene with Draco's love/Dear John letter and Harry being disgusted.
-More non-verbal conversations, always funny.
-The fact that those 2 ridiculous boys never took the antidote. Draco would have been awful and I would have cried.
Things I didn't love:
-Harry asking Hermione to marry him. I don't know why. But I'm glad Hermione refused (at least for now).
-Seamus. Blah, go away, you bore me.
Some of my favorite excerpts:
"Yes, but--eurgh, okay, I'm skipping that part...I don't even know how you managed that without breaking something. There's some pretty ripe descriptions of your appearance in here, too. 'Silver hair'? Who has silver hair?"
"I do," said Draco. "Or what color did you think it was?"
"I dunno," Harry said. "Blond?"
Draco snorted as if this were the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard.
---------------------------------
"I can't say I don't love you," he said in measured tones, "because it would be a lie. I love you. I think I have for longer than I've known it. I tried not to love you. I didn't want to love you. I did all I could to push you away, but in some way, somehow, I have found that you are -- to me -- essential."
So sad, but oh so good. I'm glad it ended with Harry and Draco together and happy.
