San Diego/ San Francisco trip, 2005!!!

Let's see... so we got to the airport at 6:30 or 7, and got onto the plane, and once everyone was situated, the captain says that the plane's compass is broken. We figure that's pretty important, so we spend about an hour sitting there until people start getting worried about connecting flights (us included), and a lot of us get off the plane. When we finally got our turn to the agent, and she's like... there's no way you can make your original connecting flight, the next plane leaves in 3 minutes, can you make it? We say yes, but she spends another 2 minutes getting us tickets... so we hear the "final boarding call, closing doors in 1 minute" and finally we get our tickets, and book it to the gate just as they close the door. Good workout. But anyways, when we arrive in San Diego, we have no luggage, so we can't go to the beach, so we ate lots of food. Then we drove to the a scenic lookout.

Point Loma, San Diego! You can't see the naval air base/ ship docks from here, but it's really cool. My dad says that Top Gun is set here.

Afterwards, we decided to walk along the shores... Sunset in La Jolla!

Sailing in Mission Bay.

Bodyboarding on the beach... I have a really bad strange tan, and forgot sunblock and got all peely.
Randomly my mom asked me if I wanted to go to a nudist beach. Apparently, back when my parents lived in San Diego in the 70s, San Diego had a really popular nudist beach, and although my mom claims never to have been, my dad later revealed he'd gone before. Anyways, they couldn't find it, so we called the hotel, and the receptionist said she didn't think it was a nudist beach anymore. Just then, my dad found a sign to the Glidaport, which he remembered was right above the beach, and he said the Glidaport was cool, so we went anyways.

Paraglider! The view from the cliff were so good, we decided to climb down to the beach.

Long way down...

Very pretty view... when we got to the bottom, we realized... hey! There are naked people here! It was funny because my mom went back up to get something, and when she came back down, I didn't get the chance to tell her about the naked people when the people in front of her suddenly stripped down and dove into the water. It actually wasn't awkward at all, and the view (the landscape, not of the naked people) was so nice.

Me (not nude) on the nudist beach... you can sort of see a nude guy behind me... oops.

View of naked beach from the top.

Surfing! Yeah, I know that's a really pathetic wave, but hey... I'm learning!

La Jolla by day. To think my parents used to live here.... what were they thinking moving to DC?!

More of La Jolla.

A very wall-calendar-ish picture.

Right before we left for the airport, we visited Balboa Park. It's kind of like San Diego's Central Park... except way better.

San Francisco!! When you look at this picture... note the height difference between me, my mom, and my grandma. And then recall that I'm 5'2".

This is what I want to be in my next life... a sea lion who spends all day sleeping on Pier 39.

I forget what this place is called... Palace of Fine Arts? You've seen it in The Rock... The Bachelor... I forget what else. Extremely beautiful place right outside the city. And they have these resident swans that don't seem to be afraid of people.

As this picture proves.
My huge extended family gathered (for the second time in 2 weeks) and then after dinner we went to see my aunt's new house, where all my aunts and my mom decided to dye my dad's hair.

That's about it. All in all a great trip. Only really bad part was that when we left my aunt's house for the airport, it was 12PM California time, and when we got to my house, it was 2AM East Coast time. Boo to that.
