It's unusually warm today for March--upper 70's. So when I took a walk around Greenbelt Lake on my lunch break, I expected I'd see these guys emerge:
But I didn't expect to see this adorable garter snake already in the season:
The snake was about a foot and a half long.
Pretty colors.
I saw several frogs all hanging out in the entry pond.
And several turtles on this log and a few other logs in the lake.
Canada geese hanging out with a pair of mallard ducks.
And pretty wood ducks.
Spring is on the way.
And I am very grateful to walk where I can see all this. Two years ago today I had to take my lunch walk in the city, and on that day, it didn't go so well, and I got smacked onto the pavement. I am so glad to not be working downtown now, and that 2 weekdays I can walk around my lake because I'm working those days from home.
