I finally saw The Hobbit on Wednesday and love your thoughts on the movie, especially of the idea that PJ & Co have switched roles for Frodo and Bilbo.

I did love Martin as Biblo.

Which format did you see it in and what did you think? I started out snarkily thinking that they gave Bilbo Frodo's competence and wit and . . . and then in a day or two, went, "Wait a minute . . . he IS Frodo!" (-;

He is a wonderful Bilbo, whoever he is. (-;

I saw it in regular 2D, which I liked, but there were some places where it was obvious that it was filmed for 3D, imho. I would like to see it in the HFR 3D, but don't know if I'll get a chance.

Mostly in Goblin Town, if I remember right.

3D didn't really make Goblin Town better for me--things moved out of the screen more, but the background was still sketchy, which is not characteristic of the loving detail WETA put into the rest of the film. I'd be interested to hear what your impression is of that if you do get to see it in 3D.
