Thank you. I would love to find someone who would take her in, but she's still more than half way feral and I can't promise that will change, so she's not an easy adoption candidate. I don't know how things are in Germany, but here there are more affectionate, human-loving cats than there are homes for because irresponsible people let non-neutered cats run around producing kittens, and some are killed everyday by brave shelter workers with no other options. And, unfortunately, Brigit is not an affectionate, human-loving cat.

I've been working with her for going on 4 years now, and though she comes when I call, trusts me to guard her, and lets me sit an inch away from her, she flinches every time I touch her. It's getting better month by month; a year ago, I couldn't touch her, but I can't promise yet she will ever want to be pet, and not many people want a cat they can't pet. I can't promise she won't pee all over the place, or be able to adapt to an indoor life, or if she would spend the rest of her life hiding under a bed. Aside from the sister she lost, she doesn't get along very well with other cats who have come around, and there are few foster homes who have room for a cat who doesn't get along with others. In such an environment, she'd probably spend most of her time hiding.

Brigit has been spayed. There's a movement among cat rescue workers in the US to trap, neuter, and release back where they were found all the feral cats we can get our hands on, and try to talk people all over the country to not round up these cats and have them killed. When we can't talk people out of trying to kill cats roaming around their land or community, we try to trap them and find places that will allow the cats to roam.

Right now, unless she becomes more affectionate over the years, the best home for her would be a farm that doesn't have any alpha cats, has good shelters and woods with no busy road nearby, and a human who is willing to take time with her to earn her trust.

If you hear of anyone in North America who you think might have room for her, please let me know. I'm pretty sure I can catch her, and I would try to drive almost anywhere if I felt certain someone could provide a safer environment for her than where she is right now. <3

As far as I'm aware we don't have to put down cats, which is a good thing!

But yes, if she's still half feral it would be difficult anyway. The only one on my flist who I think lives on a farm is Withywindle - but I think she moved a while ago. Do you know her? Maybe you could ask her.

There are similar neutering programmes for the Mediteranean countries where they have a problem with homeless cats. It's a shame that so many people are so irresponsible but it's great that you are devoting so much time to this!!! *big big hugs*
