Stray Kitties: The Rehoming

Feb 12, 2012 23:52

Starting the end of October, something that's been taking up quite a bit of my time and energy has been the rehoming to a rural area of Oestra and Brigit, the semi-feral bonded kitties I had been feeding and socializing at the New Carrollton Metro garage the past 3 years. Click on pics to embiggin these pretties.

I'm a little confused. Do you mean you re-homed O & B in another area with another family to look after them? How'd you manage that & why do you think it's a better place for them?

They were never living with a family--they were living in and around the New Carrollton parking garage by the Metro Station. A,. who works with cat rescue organizations, and I brought the strays to a guy recommended by rescue workers who said he would take the kitties to live at his horse stables in Warwick, MD--I will tell more about this in detail in other posts. It hasn't worked out as well as I had hoped ( ... )

It's good of you to work with them. Strays can break your heart. I keep saying if I ever won the lottery, I'd buy multiple acres and open up a no-kill shelter.

Thanks! These two had many admirers and people who shipped them at the garage as they were an often present pair, and I'm just one of their fans, albeit the one who's doing the equivalent of maintaining their professional website. (-; They sure can break your heart. Yup, they make me wish I had land to shelter them on, too.

oh, that would have broken my heart to see that kitty, although I'm glad it wasn't Oestra! They are both gorgeous girls! That second one reminds me a lot of baranduin's late Tonks!

Apparently my heart is in my intestines because I spent a couple of hours in the bathroom in the middle of the night, so have spent today taking it easy. They really are gorgeous. They have coats that suit their personalities--Brigit's subtler colors to Oestra's flamboyance.
