I've back dated this entry because I finished these before the new year, but didn't write it down. It's actually Feb right now as I write this.
I finally finished Dust. I really liked it. It was longer than the 100 pages I thought it was, but I'm not sure how long it really is. My Kindle is weird about page numbers, I'm not sure if there's something wrong with it, or if that's just how they all are. But the story was really good. Missing/kidnapped children being saved by another kid, epic battle between the kid and the creepy old guy/kidnapper.
I also read
Some people will do anything-and kill anyone-to keep their secrets locked away.
Michael "River" Corbett-Confined in the state mental hospital and heavily drugged since the death of his wife, River cannot remember what truly happened the night he was arrested for her murder. But now someone is trying to kill him, and he is forced to run for his life. A fugitive from the law and from someone who wants him dead, all he wants is the truth.
Cassandra "Jax" Jackson-The uncompromising police lieutenant knows she's putting her career on the line when she encounters this desperate stranger and doesn't turn him in. Something in River's eyes has Jax convinced he's worth saving... whether he wants it or not.
Dawn Jones-The daughter of a madman, Jax's young friend is haunted by voices she doesn't want to hear. But she can no longer ignore the curse she inherited from her twisted father-because unless she listens to what the dead are telling her, Jax might be doomed to join them.. I found out after finishing it that it's book 3 in a series, but I don't feel I missed too much by not reading the first two. There was reference to another case/character a lot, but it's easy to piece together the needed information to follow this book. The story was good, I found it hard to put down sometimes. There were points where I felt it was going too fast as far as character interactions go, but at the same time, it was addressed in the book as being too fast, so it worked out ok in the end. I am curious about the other book that was referenced, so I might try and find it to read as well.
