"What's up with this Gaga dude? He just, like, dresses weird, right? Like Bowie?"
"Okay, fine, whatever, Jackie Daniels."
One of the best episodes in recent times, y/y? I think it was well-rounded - I think every character had a line this week, except maybe Santana, but she killed in "Bad Romance" so that made up for it. But yeah, every character spoke, including Other Asian and Shaft, and Tina had a storyline separate from Artie, and I thought it was good.
I loved the mockery of Twilight. I approve any mockery of the Twihards, so, well-played, show. And the book-ending with Tina scaring Figgins? Aces. Also "My mom says she thinks Kristen Stewart seems like a bitch." (Also the image of Figgins dressed up as Elvis? So good.)
I lovedlovedloved "Bad Romance." I don't even know. The costumes? So good. Also, true story, last night was the senior dinner and the professor who gave the closing remarks talked about Lady Gaga, and we had a "Bad Romance Dance" and it was fantastic, and now that song's a little emotional for me. Santana, Quinn and Brittany looked the best, obvi. Brittany even told us that.
Know what else I loved? Puck singing "Beth." I have watched him singing it many times. So good. Totally an early birthday present.
Re: Kurt and Finn? I think Burt's speech was fantastically performed. I think it was the perfect reaction for a father to have. I do, however, think Finn's explosion was somewhat justified too. Kurt is a creepy stalker, and I think if he had a crush on me, I would not want to share a room with him. I want someone to call Kurt on his creeper behavior.
I did think the football player/Kurt drama was real and relevant, and the locker-pushing confrontation was pretty excellent. Made all the better with the addition of champagne bubbles and powdered wigs.
"You know what, fancy, you don't need an appointment at Supercuts - they love walk-ins"
I thought the comedy of this episode was fantastic too, like Will's statement that the week's assignment was Gaga, and Rachel instantaneously going, "Ideas ideas I need pens the ideas are just coming ideas." And "Isn't that against the rules?" "No, not at all...or, probably."
Shelby/Rachel - I like the realism of it, and I hope they haven't put the kibosh on the storyline, because I think it's interesting. Also Idina's voice is insane. I've seen her sing live, and she's able to make her voice do what it needs to, depending on the song. Anyway, I'm glad they're making use of her.
Little irritations? Quinn, Mercedes and Rachel going to spy on Vocal Adrenaline. Why is Quinn hanging out with Rachel? That's really the only thing I found irritating in the episode, with the exception of Matthew Morrison's slow clap. If you're not an Adama, I don't want to hear it.
Anyway, I thought this episode was great. I am rewatching it right now. The only thing missing is Sue Sylvester. Other people missed Jesse St. James, which, maybe, but I didn't particularly miss him because I felt it was a really well-balanced episode.
Also, for people who like TV crossover stuff, Mila from Project Runway apparently helped with the costuming.
I wrote my last TV column for the school paper this week, paying homage to the amazingness of Tyra Banks. Since ANTM is over for the present moment, my friends and I are missing our Wednesday bonding, so we're going to watch Cycle 6 and enjoy the glories of one of the best cycles ever. I'm pretty jazzed.
It's also unbearably hot here. And I realize that unbearably hot for me is not the same as it is for everyone else, but I'm pretty sure at least a few people would agree with me.
