Missing

Mar 19, 2010 04:21

It's been just over 24 hours since I've been back in the United States, so I think it's about time for me to let you all in on what I already miss about Japan (in no particular order).

* Milk tea
* Melon soda
* Lipton's "Limone Tea" (and apple tea)
* Green tea ice cream
* "Choco cookie" ice cream
* Peanut cream sandwiches
* Chip Star potato chips
* Trains (even the Chuo Line)
* fencer_x (Don't lie, you know you miss me, too! :p)
* Lots of convenient shopping
* Ikebukuro
* Well-dressed people
* Quiet, polite people
* Japanese cell phones
* Coco Ichiban Curry
* My black and purple plaid umbrella Are you taking good care of it, fencer_x?
* Flowering plum and sakura trees
* Neon lights
* *pnish* (or at least the prospect of maybe running into one of the members somewhere)
* Animate & K-Books
* sakura frappuccinos from Starbucks
* Tokyu Hands
* portion sizes
* conbinis
* Shibuya
* Coolishes
* the abundance of cute things
* bicycles
* yakiniku
* free tissues (which I could really use since I've apparently caught a cold >_<)

But don't get me wrong, it's not all bad being back home. Here are the things I don't miss about Japan (also in no particular order).

* not being able to read signs/communicate with people effectively
* wearing my heavy jacket every day even though it needed to be washed, because it would take too long to hang dry
* the lack of clothes dryers
* not having heat in any room but the bedroom
* wearing the same boots for the 43rd+ day in a row
* being away from my family/boyfriend/kitties
* people smoking on the street
* cold & windy weather
* separating trash
* overcrowded trains (or sidewalks)
* people yelling outside shops to entice you to come inside (mostly in Ikebukuro)
* the uncomfortable bed and flat pillow I had

I'm sure there are more things I do and don't miss, but I can't think of them at the moment.

random, japan
