SPN Meta - Revelation

riveryklown and I were discussing Kripke's differences between this season and the actual book of Revelation. I pulled out my handy dandy Bible (NIV translation) and started reading through the book (which I had avoided in the past because I heard it was hard to understand), but there are an insane amount of similarities not just between not just this season but show in general. Here are some passages that stood out to me. Not actually too much discussion, and all emphasis is mine. Comments by me are in italics.

Interesting bit that actually works with our season pretty well:
20:1-3 "And I saw an angel come down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore unto the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time."

20:4-6 "They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received the mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection." Now, obviously Sam was technically the first resurrection, but Dean was a resurrection that actually was done by God.

2:13 "I know where you live--where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You do not renounce your faith in me." This passage reminds me of Sam.

5:12 "In a loud voice they sang:
'Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength,
and honor and glory and praise!'"

9:2 "When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss."

9:5-6 "They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them." Reminiscent of both Dean's time in Hell and Sam's time when Dean was in hell.

9:7-11 "The locusts…had power to torment people for five months. They had a king over them the angel of the Abyss."

13:2-3 "The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed."

13:14 "He ordered them to set up an image in the honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived." The fact that the Antichrist has a fatal stab wound is so interesting to me and I can't help but think of the scar on Sam's back from what Jake did in All Hell Breaks Loose.

These are the passages that truly shocked me and made me consider In the Beginning and all the way back to the Pilot, with Mary as the woman and the YED as the dragon.
12: The Woman and the Dragon
12:4-5 "The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne."

12:13-17 "When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. The woman was given two wings of a great eagle… Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring-those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus."

19:11-16 "I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True… 'He will rule them with an iron scepter.' He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords."

Just some stuff that I thought was interesting during my reading. Obviously it's all open to interpretation and I might be seeing things that aren't there, but... It does mostly support my Desus theory at least.
