There are rumors on the internet that Candice is a potential choice for Buffy in the movie reboot. CANDICE? AS A SLAYER? A VAMPIRE SLAYER? WHO COULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT OF THAT, WORLD???

And now I have thoughts on Community. Metay thoughts. About Britta.

For those not in the know, I just don't like Britta. I've actively tried to like Britta, but maybe it's the writing or Gillian (I have nothing against Gillian as a person, but sometimes an actor's portrayal of something can just bug you for no real reason) but I just don't like her. A lot of people think it might have something to do with the fact that I ship Jeff/Annie, but I didn't like Britta before that started and I also ship like Troy/Annie so that makes no sense.

taintedlove watched Community and did it wrong so I was giving her shit last night when I realized that my personal canon for Britta is that she's a total lesbian. Pierce has to be right about something! There's been a lot of discussion about her character lately and some people have come to the realization that she's particularly bitchy when it comes to Annie's sexuality because as someone older, she seems to feel really intimidated as this younger girl who is taking over her space as the hot chick in the group (because you know that was Britta's role in any group). And it didn't even start manifesting until after she hooked up with Micronipples and Jeff because before Annie was very Chris-Hansen-Look-But-Don't-Touch BUT THEN THEY STARTED TOUCHING and I guess for anyone it can feel like they upgraded and that's really damaging.

And anyway, I just feel in my heart of hearts that one of Britta's problems is that she's so far in the closet she's hanging out with Jensen Ackles. And while I think Britta would be the first to jump on gay rights, I think that (just like with Guatemala), she's more of a speaker than a doer and she would be hesitant at admitting her own lack-of-heterosexuality. She's never been good at getting along with women to begin with and I think that she'd feel it was way too late in life to go through a sexuality crisis.

I think she would RELAX a lot if she finally got laid with a chick. She's so hyperfocused on trying to fit into a role that Annie is usurping that if she carved out a new role for herself (and was getting some) that things would function a whole lot better. There'd be less competing and she and Annie could be friends again. I also feel like, as a character, Britta would love to feel the "persecution" of being gay even though I don't think anyone at Greendale would care because it's Greendale and she'd make rallies and stuff for gay rights. (On a semi-related note, for a show that had a wide diversity, the lack of gayness makes me sad.)

Not to mention, but I REALLY REALLY want Jeff and Britta to totally compete on who can sleep with the most chicks. Abed would referee. Shirley would pray. (Another related note: Shirley having to deal with one of her best friends being homosexual would be SO INTERESTING character-wise, especially since Shirley is the biggest Jeff/Britta shipper ever.)

In conclusion, lesbians are awesome. Make Britta a lesbian so I can think she's awesome too.
