So in case y'all didn't hear - Islam is on trial today in the U.S. House of Representatives. Because Repubs are SO CONCERNED about jobs and the deficit that they put a whole fucking religion on trial over concerns about extremism, as if that issue doesn't exist ANYWHERE else

Sort of like the Scopes monkey trial... except this time it's Peter King that's the monkey ;p. Extremely embarrassing, particularly coming from a state that is otherwise one of the most tolerant in the country (I think I journaled last year about just how awesome it was to be in basically one of the most Jewish neighborhoods in the US outside of Kiryas Joel and still every morning hear the adhan's call to prayer).. I have to think that as LI urbanizes he's going to find himself on the wrong side of a ballot, not to mention the wrong side of history.

I watched Keith Ellison's testimony today on MSNBC and nearly broke down myself, it's so outrageous that someone so close to NYC has no clue about the world around him.
