Closed; Happy Birthday Husband!

May 31, 2014 14:34

It was very possible that Lavender was going overboard with Roger's birthday plans, but she always did. Besides, this was the first birthday of his they were going to spend together in nearly ten years and the first as husband and wife. She really wanted to make it special, maybe somehow create a few traditions and just have a little fun ( Read more... )

Roger wasn't sure why he woke up when he did. It was a weekend. There wasn't a practice or match. Lily was with Maeve. There was paperwork that had to happen before they could see if Dahlia wanted to try them out ( ... )

By the time that Roger made his way downstairs Lavender was just putting the final pancakes onto the platter, all fluffy and gooey with melted chocolate chips. They smelled absolutely delicious.

Though not as delicious as-

"Well, good morning, birthday boy-" she grinned, coming out from behind the island with the tray.

"We're all alone. You really didn't have to put pants on."

Lavender offered him a knowing look, looking slightly disappointed but it was mostly just teasing.

"Definitely a good morning," Roger chuckled. He pushed away from the door to cross to where she was standing with the tray.

It took a moment to drag his eyes away from the way the thin material moved high on her thighs.

"But if I don't need pants, you really didn't need that. As much as I love it."

"Don't temp me," she grinned, shaking her hips as she placed the tray down onto the table. Though, Lavender never took her eyes off of her husband.

She didn't have any issue tearing her clothes off right here in the kitchen. After all, there weren't any kids around.

But there were stacks of pancakes and sizzling bacon on the table now.

"You are the birthday boy after all, even if that detour messes some of my plans-"

"Well," Roger closed the space between them to settle his hands on her hips now that she wasn't holding a tray full of all things delicious. "I wouldn't want to ruin any of your plans."

The grin was still on his face when he leaned down to kiss her, still considering if he really did want to put on the brakes for the food that smelled delicious. It really wasn't a contest, actually.

Touching Lavender always won out over everything else.

Lavender leaned into him, reveling in the feel of his strong, lean body against her own. He was warm and smelled like clean laundry, like the two of them were still wrapped up in their sheets upstairs in their big king sized bed.

She didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around his neck and reach up to press a kiss to his lips.

"Well, if you had other morning plans in mind I'd be a terrible wife to deny to-" she grinned, nuzzling her nose against his.

"How old are you now, by the way? Having a mid-life crisis yet?"

"I'm not due for one of those for at least two more years," Roger smirked. He was sort of surprised, honestly, that he wasn't more annoyed by this age.

He was still at the top of his Quidditch game, even though he knew he was on a down swing from here. In a few years, he'd be fighting to prove he could still hold up against the younger players.

For now, though, there wasn't a single thing he could complain about.

Roger pulled back enough to press a ridiculous, quick kiss to the tip of Lavender's nose. "I'll wait until the kids are teenagers for that."

"Oh good, when that comes on just let me know, okay? I don't want to be blind sided when you buy a convertible and find a find a younger woman," she teased, scrunching her nose up like a bunny rabbit.

Even if Roger was coming to the close of his playing career she didn't doubt that he'd find a way to stay involved somehow. Though, he wasn't going to get edged out any time soon. He was still on the top of his game, on a winning team, and headed for bigger and better things.

Besides, it wasn't like the two of them needed to be working. She married into money with out even realizing it.

"At least buy me a vacation house to make it up to me, big shot."

"I promise not to look for a younger woman. They'd never be sexier anyway," Roger grinned. It was something, he realized as his hands slid up her sides over lacy fabric, that they could even joke about that now.

A few short months ago, Lavender wouldn't have been able to do that.

"But I can't promise not to buy all the latest brooms and probably a couple condos." He felt so light and excited, buoyant at where they were in their lives and how much there was to look forward to in the next year of his life, that he couldn't keep the bright look out of his eyes as he looked down at her.

"But I'll let you pick all the places I buy houses. As long as there's one for the winter and one for the summer."

At lot had changed over the last few months, going from not seeing Roger for nearly a decade, only a few short run ins, to being happily and lovingly married. She felt just as light, free in a way now that she had let go so much of the past that had been dragging her down.

It was hard to feel anything but wonderful as Roger's hands danced up and down her sides. A shiver ran down her back.

"Well, two tropical houses would just be foolish if you don't have at least one near a ski resort-" she agreed, rolling her eyes in a dramatic and pompous way.

"As long as you promise to look at me like this every morning then you can buy anything that you want."

She leaned in then and brushed her lips lightly against his.

Sometimes, it still surprised Roger how ridiculous and teasing they could be. After he'd ruined everything, he hadn't thought they'd ever get this back. They had avoided each other, save a few brief run-ins, and generally attempted to move on.

They had had their share of bumpy moments since Lavender came back, but those were all worth it for the moments like these.

His lips quirked against hers. "I really don't think that's going to be a problem," Roger promised just before pressing his lips more firmly to hers, hands tightening against her to pull her closer.

Lavender welcomed the kiss, even parted her lips to deepen in, in a slow and savoring way. She sucked at his lower lip, letting her teeth nip at the skin there to tease him gently.

Everything felt lighter when she was in Roger's arms, always had. Suddenly all the weight of the last few months were drifting away and long distanced memories. It was just the two of them there in the kitchen becoming quickly entangled in each other.
