It was a beautiful and clear night for a Quidditch. The Montrose Magpies had beat the Appleby Arrows in an intense match and Lavender, by pure luck, had gotten a gorgeous shot of their seeker catching the snitch. In fact, all of her shots tonight had been spot on that night.
Lavender felt the usual buzz of excitement after the game as she watched the Magpies march off the field, catching Roger's gaze and excited smile. It was undeniable that he was the superstar the media made him out to be. He was moved so easily on his broom, darting around the field like it was nothing. Lavender imagined the entire world fell away from him when he played, similar to the way she felt getting behind her camera. There was the shine of sweat on his brow and Lavender bit her lip, the familiar flutter in her stomach as she was brought back to their night alone at the pitch. Even with all these girls screaming for the team, all he could do was look at her - just as he said that night.
When all of her things were packed up, lenses cleaned and back in their proper bags, she sent her assistant on her way for the night. It was late and the Magpies had won. There was no way that Lavender was even going to attempt developing these tonight when she could be out celebrating. Instead, she headed towards the back gate where she usually waited for Roger to finish up.
Normally it was quiet, a few reporters or photographers but they never paid Lavender any mind. Tonight, however, was a much different case.
They noticed her the moment she turned the corner.
"Lavender Brown! Can we have a word?" one of them asked, a recording device held outright towards Lavender's face. Before she could even answer somebody else was joining in.
"Isn't it Lavender Davies now? You and Roger Davies married this past weekend?"
"The two of you were seen at the Victoria Club on Friday- is that correct?"
Lavender was practically surrounded now, reporters blocking her on either side of the hallway and she couldn't push past them. Camera flashes went off in her face, no doubt looking wide eyed and speechless. They were spitting questions faster than she could process them, no doubt waiting for either her or Roger from the start.
From behind them, she could see the doors open and a few team members filter into the hallway. Lavender craned her neck to see if Roger was among them or if she could fight her way through somehow.
"And wasn't that after you left St. Mungo's? Are you pregnant with Roger Davies's child?"
"No comment!" Lavender said, finally getting a word in. She tried to shield her face from them.
"Isn't is true that you can't get pregnant after your attack?"
"Didn't Roger cheat on you when he was first signed? Are you worried he'll do it again?"
"Please-" But her voice was just drowned out by more questions.
