After nearly three weeks of closing herself in George's flat, Lavender's life had been set into overdrive. She let herself get completely swept up in getting her life back on track and her anxiety had almost completely slipped away which, of course, was easy when she was constantly surrounded by the people she trusted.
The Magpies had welcomed her back with open arms, literally. It had been worth going back to work just to have about a dozen toned and buffed Quidditch players fight over her for hugs and the round of brews they had insisted on treating her to. They were almost like their own family and it was heartwarming to see that she had become a part of it after so little time with them.
After the Witch Weekly Holiday Party, Lavender had packed up her few things from George's place and made herself comfortable for a long weekend (which, honestly, felt far too short in her opinion) before move in day with Mandy. It was more than just a little overwhelming having her own place after six years of bouncing between luxury hotels. Then, of course, came the business of Christmas and family time.
Everything had happened so quickly that Lavender never really had a chance to sit down with George before she had packed up her things. Really, they had their lines crossed for a while now. He was busy with both the shop and his new girlfriend Cecilia who, Lavender was realizing, wasn't the same girl she knew back at school. Still, she missed him. Things had been tense for a little while there and she had began to feel like more of a burden to him than a guest.
The Saturday following Christmas Lavender made her way to the shop with a freshly made lunch and an overdue Christmas gift, hoping that he had more than just a few minutes to spare for her.
"Delivery for George Weasley!" she called as she entered, noticing the shop was nearly empty.
