Closed; Mandy & The Apartment Walk Through

Dec 15, 2013 19:52

Lavender knew she had stayed at George's far too long. She knew it the moment he came barreling into the apartment with Cecilia Jacobs suction cupped to his face while she sat stuffing her face with peanut butter swirl ice cream. That should have been her cue to exist - except she was still too afraid to walk down the street with alone ( Read more... )

Mandy was excited when she heard from Lavender. She knew that their flat hunting was going to be delayed because of the attack and she very well understood. She had been very concerned for her friend but still thankful that she was alive. She didn't know how she would be able to make it without her.

So when Lav contacted her she immediately got ready to meet her. She had quickly changed into a sweater and jeans and went and got a coffee for herself. She was excited to finally be able to move out her small flat. She had just been renting a small studio flat. It was just something to have that was out of her mum's house but she should still save money with the inexpensive rent.

When she saw her friend she smiled and gave her a hung, "Hey dear. And it's no problem. Let's go check it out." She wasn't going to ask how she was doing because she was sure she didn't want to talk about it.

Lavender barely paused before opening up the front door and leading them into the lobby. It was nice to see Mandy but Lavender felt the anxiety building back up inside her. She wanted the safety of four walls around her.

"My brother said that they redid the kitchen just about a year ago," she told her, smiling as she found their way to the stairs. "Fourth floor. Do you mind the walk or want to take the elevator?"

Mandy just knew to let Lav take control and be there to support her when anything happened. That's what friends did for each other. Sure she hadn't been around as much as she had wanted to lately but Lavender had plenty of people to support her.

She shook her head as she took a sip of her coffee, "The stairs are fine with me. I need my daily work out." She followed her up the stairs, "So how did you brother find out about this again?"

"Good call. I've had too much ice cream these last few weeks and nearly not enough gym time," she laughed, leading them up.

"One of his co-works moved out just a week ago. But he lived here for almost four years and loved it."

She laughed and nodded, "Maybe there's a nice gym nearby and we can have gym dates to keep each other motivated. However constantly making this stair trek might help as well."

She nodded as she listened to her, "Oh that's awesome. It's in such a nice area as well. I'm excited to check it out. Do you have decorating ideas already?"

"There might actually be a gym in this building!" she said excitedly. It would be too convenient not to use. Though, four flights of stairs was more of a work out than she realized just a few moments ago.

"I have a few ideas but we definitely need to go shopping. Maybe black and white furniture? I hate light colored woods."

She laughed and nodded, "That would be to perfect. That way we wouldn't even have to go outside to go work out. Especially when it's miserable weather outside as well it usually always it." That was the one thing that usually kept Mandy from working out was the fact that she had to go outside to get to her gym.

"I agree. I'm thinking accent rugs as well. It'll be nice to have an actual bedroom again instead of the studio flat that's for certain."

"A studio? That sounds rough," Lavender teased as they finally reached the fourth floor. The turned left down the long hallway towards flat four-nineteen.

"This flat had plenty of walls. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Both with walk in closets."

Mandy nodded, "It was rough that was for certain. It was just a starter though. It gave me the freedom to actually be on my own, but I could still save some money for something nice like we are looking for you know? I could live with it for a while."

She laughed, "Oh thank Merlin for walls." She giggled and bumped her hip against Lav. "I love you Lavender but I don't love you enough to live without walls."

"The feeling is mutual, Mandy," she laughed, bumping her fellow blonde right back. The last few weeks with George let her experience first hand why walls and locked doors were so important.

"You know this will be my first official place. I've bounced around hotel rooms, living out of a suitcase, for the last six years."

Mandy smiled, "That's right! That's so exciting! Whenever you're up for it we should totally have a small get together to formally get you settled!"

She looked at her friend and winked, "Are you going to go into major nesting mode? Am I going to have to pull you away from home stores so you don't spend to much."

"A party should be our number one priority!" she agreed as they reached the door. Lavender had let the landlord know they were on their way and he promised to keep it unlocked.

The door swung open to reveal a rather expansive open concept living room/dining room/kitchen with dark hardwood floors. It was quite spacious.

"And yeah, looking at the size of this, we're going to have to do a lot of shopping. Nesting would be good."

When she opened the door Mandy couldn't help but let out a low whistle. This was, really nice. If Lavender and her got this, this would be a real place for both for them. Not some lame studio apartment.

Mandy laughed as she walked around, "I'm going to have to agree with you. I for sure do not have enough stuff to fill half of this apartment." She walked into the kitchen and leaned on the island. "This kitchen is amazing."

There were dark cherry cabinets and a gorgeous ivory granite that made the entire space feel more luxurious. There was more than enough space for cooking and baking…and any other, sexier past times that might suddenly occur.

"The bedrooms are on either side, too, which is great for privacy," she realized, noticing the two entrances on either side of the great room.

Mandy wasn't going to lie, she was really hoping she wasn't going to walk in on Lav and Rog having some fun in this kitchen so they would certainly have to work on some sort of system.

She nodded, "That's pretty awesome. We each get our own side to live in. That's a brilliant design." She walked farther into the open dining and living area. She nodded, "Oh yeah. I see a lot of potential in this area."

It wasn't as if the couple had no boundaries. But Mandy did get sent away on business and if the apartment was free, Lavender couldn't held responsible for decisions made under Roger's influence.

"There's a patio out here as well," she said, seeing the doors that led out to a nicely sized deck. The spot was perfectly sunny and facing away from the street. "There's enough room out here for a little coffee table, for sure."
