the land is all too shallow, it is painted on the sky

I've decided that I'm enjoying the water advisory, for much the same reasons as I enjoy power outages. Temporary hardship makes things strange and new (Verfremdung!), and the fact of having to think about something as simple as drawing water is deeply satisfying to me.

My shower smells like earth. I rather like it.

I was sick in the morning, which meant that I had two naps today and am now trying to get some work done, but whatever. Reliable sleep schedule, meh. I did finish Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, which... well. I think one of my favourite things about it is that my favourite things about it happen in the corners. Liminal spaces; my love of footnotes coming to the fore.

The imagery is also pretty awesome.

I was outside tonight, and alone in what passes for silence in a city, when the rain started to fall. There's no way I can describe that sound, but I love it, and rain in general.
