Veni, Vidi, Visa!

And $4000 poorer.

So Aa is driving down to Conrad to sign the final few documents and I'm stuck at work channeling the 1920s as a flapper girl as if my life depended on it (thanksgiving concert for school - what do you mean I teach?)

It's still 15months away, but after being to so many wedding dinners at so many locations, and meeting a couple of banquet coordinators (including The Woman With The Dead Eyes), we realised we'd rather swallow some of the costs ourselves and ensure that the dinner is somewhere memorable - he proposed at Conrad Bali, we've had anniversary brunches at Oscars, and maybe, just maybe, we love its smell. Warm, intimate, unassuming, laid back but polished, hushed marble and deep teak.

Efficiency becomes us, I know. I suppose the wonderful, unplanned, unexpected thing about Aa and I is that we love the exact same things (most of the time) - dark woods, libraries, understated chandeliers (yes, they exist), forest greens, being unfussy, planning a marriage, not a wedding.

Anyway here's what we're hoping to achieve - modifying one of Conrad's themes (below) with a little less red, a little more twinkling lights, a lot more old hollywood.

We're not having a full blown chinese dinner because my parents cannot stand abalone/sea cucumber/anything slimy and I literally get a physical reaction to crustaceans.

Lets just say ostriches and ovens are involved :)

dinner, laur
