- update time -
This summer has flown by. I've done lots of traveling knocked out a couple states. I think I've been to 28 now. Montana and South Carolina were the last two.
My goal going into the summer was to figure out how "going down the shore" worked. I semi-figured it out this weekend. Tim came to visit and we took the train to Atlantic City on Friday. I had been there before, but in the winter to a casino. We actually tried to figure out the beach. We didn't do the best at it. Only bringing 2 towels. No sunglasses, sunscreen, he forgot sandals. No books to read, music, footballs or frisbees... but all in all it was a good trip. And now I know how it works. Sorta.
I'm starting graduate school tomorrow at Penn. I'm not going to lie. I am a little nervous. I just checked and had an email from my professor about 2 articles we are supposed to read before class on Wednesday. I opened the articles read 2 pages. And then decided I needed to update this journal.
I was hoping to be able to still do some work at the school I taught at the last 2 years. But they have yet to return my email. What a bunch of punks. That school was backwards anyways. The reading specialist-who I was friends with- has been keeping me up to date with the gossip there. Apparently, a lot of the good solid teachers quit sometime over the summer for better opportunities. I'm sure they are frantic trying to hire teachers and deal with all that.
I checked online at the AYP/PSSA results. The school made AYP. -That's good- And my 6th graders did pretty amazing. I mean, for being Special Educ. kids 4 out of 12 of them were in the highest levels in math. The rest were all below basic. But that was a big jump from last year. It did make me feel good to see that. I guess I did teach something last year.
today, i haven't done much at all. it's labor day. so i'm not going to labor at all.
i feel like eating brie.
that's all.
