Dr Who (Rise of the Cybermen)

Um, is it my imagination or did Mickey have like the most girly fit ever of 'oh my God the Doctor doesn't love me as much as he does Rose?' It fell somewhere between cute and right and dear God you are a 12 yo.

I did like that he followed Rose, although obviously he would, but they were being a bit ridiculously insensitive where Mickey was concerned. From the Doctor that's expected, but Rose needs to stop screwing him around and make a choice.

Also, really now, you get points for not being on the same earth, and for not intending to be there, but you lose points for the whole technology downloading to people's brains shit again, and for playing the Rose inpainful scene with dead father card for the second time. For one, you aren't gonna do that better than you did in Father's Day, and for two, we've seen it before, thank you.

It was fine. Again there were some pretty cool moments, and the cybermen were pretty creepy (certainly the concept behind them was creepy, anyway), and, yes, Mickey with his gran was sweet and sad, but it wasn't more than fine, imo. It had nothing like the magic of last week's, as far as I'm concerned.

Which is not to say I'm not interested in how next week's plays out, but let's stop covering the same ground, 'kay?

I did get to see Girl in the Fireplace again last night, 'cause my friend had more foresight than I and taped it, and, yes, he so very much was waiting. I am full of love for Stephen Moffet, and suggest that we don't cut his episodes per season ever again.

We're also giving thought to resurrecting the Tuesday night tradition, where I used to make my friends watch the West Wing, and we'd eat ice cream (from icecream vans, in fact, before they became a thing of evil), this time with old Doctor Who episodes. I didn't ever really watch it as a kid, mostly because my parents weren't fans, and I feel a lot of catchup is in order.

I will be in this evening, 'cause the downside of finishing uni early is that everyone else is still studying. I was out really late last night (this morning, really) and I'll be out tomorrow, so it's not like I have reason to complain, but Saturday nights are always lacking in television content to amuse me. Sigh.

I suppose I'll make my own fun.
