I'll write you a song and it won't be hard to sing

Sometimes I get so caught up in things when I get busy.  I just lose track of things, and I let the tide wash me out to sea where I can float idly on it all and drift.

But then I'm pulled under, because the floating never lasts long.  Truthfully, I was beginning to wonder when it would happen again.  And truthfully, its my own fault for not paying attention or giving the time of day.

I don't know what to do to help, and I don't know what to say, other than "we're in this together" and "if you go down I'm coming with you".  Every time I say that there's a certainty in my soul that knows I mean it with all my heart.  If she lets go, I let go too.

I hate that she thinks she isn't living to someone else's standard, and that she's not living to her own, and that she feels helpless to do anything about it all.  I hate that she feels unwanted and unloved, misunderstood and broken, and wrong.  I hate that she thinks we're all lying to her face about everything good in her.

The thing I hate most is that I think I  have an answer to her questions and her hopelessness...but she'd never take it or believe in it, because what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another...

But if I could take it all away from you, I would.
