2008 Roundup
I'm doing a writing and podficcing roundup for 2008. Overall, with writing, I've concentrated on some major WIPs of mine: A Fair Distance, an untitled Mag7/TS story for Moonridge 2007 and a saga I started for My Mongoose Ezine called A Sea-Change. Two other Moonridge 2007 stories are completed at the rough draft stage and are in line for being beta'ed. I've done two out of the three drabbles for slipperie_slope for Moonridge 2008.
A Fair Distance:Running on Empty was a LMFA winner in two categories and I've actually got the rough draft of the second part, Ball and Chain, completed. It went to thirteen chapters, with the last chapter being approximately 9,000 words. The wonderful writer who beta's my stories, t_verano has her hands full with chapters six through thirteen, and I intend to finish the other two major WIPs while she catches up to me. Then I'm going to go straight through and finish the third part to A Fair Distance (I have it worked out and I'm looking forward to completing the story).
When the major stories are completed, then I think I'll do more short stories for Sentinel Thursday. I also will try and catch up on posting at archives (one of my New Year's Resolutions).

I began doing podfics in the spring of 2008, and I find recording stories to be a more straightforward process that is different than my writing style( I stare a lot at walls and ceilings).
I did some calculations based on how I record and an hour long podfic takes approximately eleven hours to produce. That includes practice recording, listening to the practice copy multiple times, recording, and editing. I'm hampered in that I can only record if I'm alone in the house and that doesn't happen very much. Still, I've been trying to do one a week, but that might slow down as I start to do longer stories. I'm very grateful to general_jinjur and her Audio Fic Archive for hosting the podfics.
