Just a mindless, little random post:
-- I finally changed out most of my old icons. :P This is noteworthy because I changed out my default icon, which I never did before in the three--almost four-- years on LJ. So yay for the little changes. :D
I wish I had more icon space, but really, I can't justify spending on something so frivolous (and giving LJ my credit card info, which freaks me out). So the old ones just had to go. I wanted to put in some H&C and Nodame, but the nice ones I found didn't fit in with my old keywords so I guess I'll save them for later.
-- In case I have never mentioned it before, I am obsessed with corgis because 1) I miss my old dog (a dachshund) and 2) I know I will never be able to afford a corgi. This is the best place for cute corgis on the internets:
obsessive corgi disorder I. Miss. My. Dog.
:(
-- I haven't done any writing lately, except for Christmas cards, and most of those will arrive late because I don't have any stamps and the line at the post office was crazy a week ago. Maybe I will get around to mailing them this week...
--On the anime front, Adam and I are currently watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The moodiness and depressing aspects of this series is balanced out nicely by re-watching episodes of Ranma 1/2 immediately afterward. Re-watching Ranma is an exercise in nostalgia.
-- I finally watched Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows (Part 1) last night. Some crazy person brought their seven-year old along and was forced to leave halfway. Do'h. There was too much Hermione in it -- might as well call it the Hermione Hour -- but even with all the camping bits, it was okay. (I dub these bits the "Visit the U.K. countryside" montage.)
Still, it was certainly better than the past three films... hey, I think I have mastered the art of Lowering My Expectations! :D
Also... I shudder that I have to write the next sentence in all honesty, but yes, the kids have finally learned how to act. Daniel Radcliffe no longer looks like he's trying to poop whenever there's a Serious Moment and even Emma Watson manages some change of emotion on her face. So, over all, well done kids... except for Ginny. Bonnie Wright is still useless, but fortunately we are not inflicted with her for too long.
Of course I did my epic re-read of the entire series when I arrived at my sister's house. She owns all the family copies, you see. I started before Thanksgiving and finished sometime after Christmas. With canon fresh in my mind, I feel that they got the mood of the 7th book very well -- even the plodding pace.
Also, maybe someone on my f-list can clue me on on Jamie Campell Bower (young Grimmauld). IMDB says he's the lead singer for Darling Buds. And the Darling Buds, to my recollection, is an old indie band. I remember them from my So I Married An Axe Murderer OST. So is this kid hanging out with musicians twenty years older than him, or did a new group hijack an old band name? I don't know why this bothers me.
P.S.
I looked at the calendar today and I'm amused that it's the feast of the Holy Innocents. People used to play pranks on this day, instead of April Fools. Why hasn't the internets picked up on this yet?
