Lately I've been very busy with work -- what's new? I don't want to talk about that, it's boring -- and when I'm not busy I'm trying to relax with anime, because I just installed a new wireless router and have discovered the joys of
cyber12.
No I haven't forgotten I hadn't posted the last bits of Blood/Water. I am stuck, frankly. I want it to have a beautiful ending and I am stuck. So I am looking for inspiration. Excuses, excuses!
Anyway, I've also been downloading J-rock like crazy, and I'm so obsessed with Suemitsu & the Suemith right now. He's best known for "Allegro Cantabile," the Ben Folds-ish opening for Nodame Cantabile. I love the lyrics of that song, and I happen to have a soft spot of melodic banging on piano keys (think Ben Folds, Keane, occasionally Elvis Costello...) so this is right up my alley.
In the 88th scene
I gathered up the scattered sound with my hands
I got some thoughts together that I can't put into words
And the days passed by, to the musical score
Crossing by for the third time
Make it sound out right here
Straight forwardly, like the way in which I sing
I grow, to this song
I can't do it to any other
As I left everything to time
It has all been set free
My fingers run about, unaffected
This unending crescendo is deep
And heading toward someone
The world has opened up before my eyes
A new prelude repeats itself
The 88th fantastic story, a rest in the music, a changing harmony
Quietly, I readied a breath...
Until the shape that should be there is returned
Disappearing for the third time, make it sound out right here
When I sing, I divert from the song that I believed in
Stumbling on the intempo
I'm getting entangled in improvisation
The repeating road will disappear, the waves the drive me along are close by
The melody of a laughing voice heads toward someone
The door is closing before my eyes
And sadness has piled up to make an etude
Unhappy without realizing it, I shook off the hand that grasped my shoulder
Don't ever forget that your singing is only as good as your heart
Straight forwardly, like the way in which I sing, I grow, to this song
This unending crescendo is deep, and heading toward someone
Life, and everything about this kind of a song
Goes out to the pianist at the end of the stage
The world has opened up before my eyes
A new prelude repeats itself
Such a nice sentiment, huh? Here's the
artist's video on YouTube. Commenting has been disabled, so some troll must have made a nasty crack at the video. Personally, I love the image of the metronome falling into black liquid... but the way the paint falls on the piano keys could have been done better. Hmm.
In any case, my new favorite tracks of his are "Astaire" and "Night Walking Miss Lonesome."
Aside from Suemitsu and Suemith I've downloaded a lot of the music for Nodame Cantabile to add to my classical music playlist. <3 I've always loved Gerswhin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and the pianica version in the soundtrack is great. It just seems a lot shorter than the version I used to have on tape.
I also got some Suneohair (the guy who contributed a lot of songs to the Honey and Clover soundtrack) but I'm not finding him as perky/lovable as I thought. It takes a mood to listen to him, it seems.
I've also downloaded the crazy jazzy theme of
Baccano! I need to write a separate entry on that series since it's soooo messed up I love it.
What else. Okay, a side comment for Bleach.
I just watched Diamond Dust Rebellion because
bananakaya's review reminded me that I haven't seen this filler goodness. While watching it I learned how to screencap -- oh joy! -- so here are my first two screen caps ever.
The messy bed is very suggestive.
When did Unohana stop using kidou for healing?! What's with the saline drip in the background, anyway?
On the other things that recently happened in fandom, mwahahahahaha. Drama can be tiresome... but still amusing to watch from a safe distance. XD
