In other news,
this article taught me a lot more about Narnia and CS Lewis than I really needed to know. I was HUGELY into the Narnia books as a minor (they were how my stepmom bribed her way into my affections...I'd read Lion, Witch, & Wardrobe, and one day she came over with a huge bag of $2 books and said "Suprise, they're a series!"...all sarcasm aside, I really was thrilled) but it took me maybe 10 years to discover they were allegorical. I've realized that I actually can't read them now, because I can't accept them with the innocence I had before. Anyway, in 6th grade I did a presentation about the life of CS Lewis (from the POV of Tolkein, that's how nerdy I was), but I never knew he had an affair with the mother of a dead war comrade, or denied Susan access to the "new Narnia" because she'd hit puberty and was therefore evil. And looking back, "They're not nearly as well written as either the 'Potter' or the 'Dark Materials' books" may actually be true.
It's kinda depressing, actually.
3 days 'till home!
