if i havent already filled you in on the details, this is what i do...
i still go to nyu, but this semester i am taking my classes in florence. i am still a psych major and im still reading all sorts of textbooks, they are still in english. i live on the third floor of an apt building on via maffia, the south side of the arno river. on this side of the river there are butchers, bakers, candlestick makers, artisans, construction workers, and all sorts of crafty people. there are 21 girls on our floor and we all go to school on the north side of the city, our campus is called la pietra. it is a mansion and estate formerly owned and donated to the school by sir harold acton, it is on acres and acres of the most amazing landscape that ive ever had the pleasuring of viewing. i usually walk to school because the public transportation in this city does not run on schedule, and only runs when its not on strike (at least once a week, it is on strike). it takes about 45 minutes to walk through the city and up the giant hill where the school is, this is a good thing because if i didnt walk all this way twice a day i would be even fatter than i already am. i eat too much pasta and too much chocolate, but i wont stop until there is nothing left.
in the month that i have been in europe i have spent time in rome, lucca, bologna, and amsterdam. all of the small cities in italy are very much alike, hundreds of churches and built entirely out of cobblestone. amsterdam was completely different and completely amazing (katie brown i am jealous that you got to spend so much time there). in amsterdam everyone rides bicycles and in florence everyone rides motor scooters. in amsterdam there are 8 H&Ms and in florence there is only prada, gucci, ferragamo. etc... in amsterdam there are hundreds of restaurants with all kinds of food and in florence there is only pasta. basically amsterdam is more my style, but i love it here too and am adjusting to this more traditional (less metropolitan) lifestyle. i have plans and plane tickets for some crazy shit in the next few months, i hope it all works out and ill post pictures somewhere if i ever have get my own internet connection (mostly when i talk to you i am at an internet cafe and paying money by the hour, so sorry if ive been out of touch).
currently my plane ticket home is scheduled for may 12th. but i can tell you right now, i wont be back quite that soon.
