So I'm doing my taxes. I'm in an unusual situation -- married, but with my marriage not recognized by the federal government. TurboTax did just fine a couple years ago.
But now? They are requiring me to pay *twice* for both Federal and State just to get one set of returns in.
Why? Because their online program cannot handle the fact someone might be single on one but married on the other.
Of course, it wouldn't allow me to pay for the Federal one separately. And when I paid for it, I didn't realize their solution would require me to create two user ids (which means two separate payments of $89) -- I figured that when I got to the end, it would set up a mock Federal tax form for me, and allow me to go from there, as the instructions suggested.
I'm trying desperately to find someone to complain to. Their website has no email addresses. Meanwhile,
I notice that I'm not the only one in this situation.
