So the doorbell rang yesterday, and as I was the only one home, I answered it. There was a middle-aged hispanic man on the step. As soon as I said hello he started gesturing at the front yard and speaking in Spanish. I told him that I didn't speak Spanish, and he said, "No habla espanol?" So I said, "No, no hablo espanol." He paused for a second and then continued gesturing and speaking in Spanish, only more slowly. At this point I was getting annoyed, so I told him again that I didn't understand what he was saying. So he slowed down some more, but continued speaking in Spanish. Finally I pulled a word out of what he was saying. That word was "fruit." So I said. "fruit?" To which he replied, "Si, fruit!" Then he continued gesturing at the plants in the front yard and started saying, "Banana?" So I said, "No, no bananas." Then he nodded, walked back to his car, and drove away. Anyways, I found it to be a highly amusing, though completely random encounter.
Also, my car blew up (again) yesterday. So I finally took it to the mechanic. Luckily, they decided that what went wrong was their fault. I guess the last time they fixed the engine they messed somethign up. So yay! I didn't have to pay for it! :)
