female fandom?
Is fandom for females only? I know there's been much ado about how most slashers are female, but I haven't run across any males writing genfic or doing artwork, or participating in the discussion/theorizing/etc. of fandom, either. Granted, I haven't delved too deep into very many fandoms, so this could just be my limited experience talking. But... are there boys out there in the realms of fandom? And if not, why not?
Edit: firecat rightly points out that this is a really funny post the way I've written it -- "fandom" generally includes sci-fi con attendees, among others, and most of them are male. See my clarifying reply to her below about creative fandom.
