hurt so good...come on, baby, make it hurt so good.

after a heavy debate/disagreement about political unrest in english yesterday, mrs. wise gave us the last half of the class period to listen to old hippie protest songs and write a catharsis (kind of like a journal entry, meant to clear your mind). i needed to finish up some work for my sixth period, but as soon as the first song came on, i recognized the lyrics and all my feelings just poured out...

"And how many times must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
...The answer is blowin' in the wind"
---bob dylan

How many times are we offered peace or resolution before we agree to end conflict? This question is universal, applied to relations between countries, political parties, our friends, and even within oneself. All so often, our pride steps in the way and we are too stubborn to let things go and instead we form grudges. It gets to the point when we continue to argue--with closed ears--simply because we like the sound of our own voices. I can't help but to ask myself if we will ever reach a point of understanding between one another and/or inside ourselves. The solution hangs tauntingly right in front of our faces, but the question remains: Will we continue to ignore the need for peace in order to be self-righteous, or will we be able to leave the past behind us and strain together, united, towards a more serene future? "The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind...the answer is blowin’ in the wind."

anyways, the swimming senior night is tonight, and im really excited. its going to be a good way to end the season and competitive swimming in general. those kids are my family, and i hope we can stay close even though its over...and for the first time, i feel a little sad to leave it behind. well see how it goes.

LAME.
