Mieu!
So replaying the game, I remembered something. Luke is seventeen and Mieu is supposed to serve him for a cycle of the seasons, a year, which he does. Thing is, the entire game spans over three years because the coming-of-age ceremony is at twenty and the game ends with his "coming-of-age" ceremony. So~ Mieu served Luke for an additional two years. How cute!!! <3
So obviously at the end in Tataroo Valley, we see "Luke" once again, yet Namco doesn't state who exactly it is.
Is it Luke? Is it Asch? Is it both?
Part of me believes its both of them because of the Contamination Effect which was explained throughout the story. I mean, Jade spoke to a rescued Cheagle mid-game talking about it feeling it's "original" (or was it the replica? I don't remember) version of it returning to its body, giving it a warm feeling. At the end, when Luke is going into the core as Eldrant crumbles, he catches Asch's body and they glow. And Asch's hand twitches (which gave me feelings).
Also, in the end, when Luke returns, Luke has the Sword of Lorelei on his back. And since Asch and Luke were perfect isofons, sharing the same with Lorelei, wouldn't they only be able to use the sword? All of this is one of the reasons I think it's both Luke and Asch as one.
However...
(A doujinshi gave me this thought, isn't that saddening?)
Jade mentions that he wants to read up on Fomicry once again to help the Replicas gain a place in the world, or something along those lines. Either way, Jade wants to bring about Fomicry, but for good purposes. In the doujinshi, Jade is speaking with Peony and asks if the Luke that returned is a replica, which Jade basically says that it is.
Apparently Asch had come forward during the time of him being wounded asking for a Replica to be created from both he and Luke (which Jade could have extracted data whenever he wanted to) and did so everyone could be happy, i.e. Guy, Natalia, Tear (especially Tear) as well as himself... possibly.
So, to sum it all up, I'm stuck on whether believing that Luke did in fact return as a whole being or is the Luke that returned a Replica. I'm leaning on the former, but I can't entirely rule out the second one either...
