my mom was gone 2 nights, home for one, now she's gone 2 night again, will be home for one, and will be gone for 2 more. it WOULD be chill, except for i'm tired of it and i'm tired of doing all the work. i woke up this morning to the following BULLSHIT.
------
(handwritten on the bottom of the typed up ride schedule. btw, i have a ride schedule so that i won't forget when i'm driving her kids around.)
"thursday night- laurel, stay home with alex. maybe you TWO go out to dinner? (use my credit card ONLY for dinner.)
friday night- i'll see if alex can stay over at rainey's. if not, laurel needs to stay home. xox"
------
(i immediately write her this email.)
hi mom,
i have plans tonight. i think it's really unfair of you to (not ask, but) tell me that i am staying home. you cannot give me 12 hour notice when you basically ground me for an entire night that i already have plans for.
i understand that it's not your fault that dad is out of town too, but it's not my fault either and i have a life just like you. alex is in junior high now. he doesn't need a babysitter.
i think we have a few other options to explore, because i am pretty set on going out tonight.
------
(she emails back)
"Talk to Alex and see what he's ok with. I'd prefer, if you won't stay home for ONE NIGHT, that he be at Rainey's. Tomorrow too? He
shouldn't have to be alone all evening.
Thanks for your help."
------
(i email back)
"instead of making me feel guilty for having plans, can you try to ackowledge the fact that this is a pretty unfair request? especially when you take into account the fact that you asked me the morning of?
and i never said i couldn't do it friday. sure, i'd like to go out but don't have plans set in stone yet. ...so instead of telling me i need to stay home, it may be more effective to ask nicely."
