I will strike you with your own peddler of flesh.

I've just discovered that my "Bed" away message now reads "omg haxs." I have decided to leave it as such, since it amuses me. Thank you, Grant. Thank you. That was far more creative than just haxxing my current away message. I applaud your ingenuity. ;)

So far, spring break has been really great. I've been able to sleep past eight thirty (I know!) and I finally beat KOTOR. (Knights of the Old Republic, plebes.) Best fucking game ever. Now I just want to run through it again, but be evil. Because the ending is different. The best part is that I can actually do that now, because Dad found me a cheap-ass desktop computer to run my games on while I'm at school. Tis glorious. Now all I need is a monitor to go with it, and that will probably get here sometime next week, so I'll just pick that up when I'm back in town to see West Shore's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

On Thursday, Mom and I went to the Mall at Millennia. I was very pleased with our visit to the Anthropologie store. (SF 'Stuff I Want' and 'Retail Therapy' posters, I was thinking of you.) I was not pleased, however, that everything was out of my price range, and they didn't even have the $20 and under sale items that I know exist, because I've looked at them on the website. I did, however, leave the mall with chocolate cheesecake, a Swiss Army knife, a plastic catapult and a pretty yellow flower necklace.

Yesterday, I watched 75% of the new Pride and Prejudice and then went to see Brokeback Mountain with Grant. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie, although I thought they missed out on a lot of the romantic element. They didn't exactly establish why Jack and Ennis fell in love with each other, of all people. They kept emphasizing that they were in love and that they had to be together and were unhappy apart, but they failed to point out why they loved each other so much. I need to reread the short story, but I had the feeling they pumped up the screenplay a lot. I don't remember Linda Cardellini's character from the short story, but then again, I haven't read it for six months. The ending was, as Grant said, "hella sad." I think, though, that I started crying around the time Ennis went to visit Jack's old room and I didn't really stop until the credits. Heath Ledger did an amazing job in that scene in Jack's room. Usually I don't cry over movies unless I see another character crying hard, really grieving for something, but I know Heath did a good job when he made me cry without crying hard in that scene. I think Jake Gyllenhaal did a better job overall, though. Heath was great, but stoicism isn't the hardest facade to put up, even though he did an excellent job.

Today, Grant and I went to Petsmart and looked at the fish and the leetul hamsters and mice and rats and chincillas and then the puppy that was up for adoption there. I swear, as soon as I get my own place, I will have a hamster. It will be minnneeee. Miiinnnneee. Mine. Until then, I suppose I'll survive by visiting my cat and visiting Iggy and Humphrey when I see Grant. Then we watched the entirety of the new Pride and Prejudice. Excellent, excellent film. Love the Keira. I need icons. I crave icons. I wasn't as blown away by Matthew MacFayden. He was a great Darcy, but he was a bit light at times, I found. But then again, I adore Colin Firth. Hey, at least I was willing to give the new one a try, unlike many P&P elitists. (A trend that greatly irritated me.) Keira was fantastic. Perfectly vulnerable and snarky like a good Elizabeth should be. Grant enjoyed it and was lol-ing through the whole thing, at appropriate moments. And rooting for Jane and Bingley and occasionally muttering "SOMEBODY FUCK!" at the screen.

And this evening, I had dinner at El Chico's with Grant, his parents and two of his parents' friends. "Damn," I hear you say. "Pressure, Laura, pressure," you say, and whistle under your breath at my courage in attending. But no, Grant's parents are awesome and hilarious, as are their friends, and I got to hear a few more stories that could be categorized under "That Stupid Thing A Tiny Grant Did." I got to tell funny anecdotes and listen to funny anecdotes and talk about politics and popular culture and I definitely enjoyed myself. And after that, we decided to go see a mindless comedic movie. Failure to Launch, you say? NAY! For we chose Ultraviolet, and truly, it is the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. SO BAD. SO SO BAD. Hilariously so! I really expected to see the three little silhouettes on the bottom right corner of the screen, it was so bad! Hysterical! She revived someone with her tears. With her tears. WITH HER TEARS. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. The best line cannot be ruined, though. You must all go see this movie. It will be legendary, much like Aquanoids or Manos: The Hands of Fate. Yes, it is THAT BAD. There was a constant blur filter over Milla Jovovich's face. She looked like someone's bad LiveJournal icon. And it was such a good thing that she remembered to bring her lipgloss everywhere. And again after that, we went over to Zeke's apartment and hung out with Steven, Aaron, Garrett and Zeke, obviously. Steven was totally gone, very very drunk, and singing the Zelda theme while playing Link to the Past and constantly singing its praises. Literally. Singing. It was hilarious.

Now, I sleep. Such a great day today. I am quite happy.
