I read this article in the
NY Times about our current president comparing World War II to the war in Iraq. This kind of bothers me in ways. Though any understanding of war is politically charged/culturally biased, I just don't see how you can compare the two. I think in many ways it might even be kind of insulting. Lives lost are lives lost, but the havok and chaos of WWII just doesn't seem to compare to Iraq. Who would be the Hitler of Iraq? I can only hope that the analogy remains benign. There are mentions in his
speech about the difficulties following WWII and the Cold War. Oh well...
