What a brilliant weekend!
Saturday I hiked on in to D.C. by my 5'4'' lonesome. Putting up a ferocious & skinny front, I rode the Metro to the Convention Center to go to the Green Festival (
website). There were booths aplenty about green clothing, food, technology, architecture/building materials, health, conservation, education, farming, etc. I quickly became loaded down with magazines, pamphlets, and various other forms of paper information. It was refreshing to walk the festival alone, go at my own pace, though I do wish Wil had been able to see it.
After a few hours there, I headed over to the antiwar protest/free music festival, Operation Ceasefire (
website). I listened to speakers and bands until finally Janelle and her friends arrived at 9. A few more hours of waiting and the moment came: Le Tigre! Janelle and I managed to push our way to the second row amidst sweat and smoke. We danced, jumped, screamed, and sang -- as did Le Tigre. They had cute synchronized dances and a good sense of humor, all the while maintaining a protest of the things they couldn't stand for and a celebration of the things they could. The energy was ridiculous. And perfect.
Also, today is the two-year anniversary of the Laura&Wil unit (as well as Linus' birthday). Huzzah!
